Foster has caught on to the whole camera thing and if we ask him to say cheese he usually gives us a pretty good smile. Sometimes it is a little fake but gosh he is cute.
He still doesn't say much, but is getting better, he has learned to say More, so that he can tell me that he wants more food. Never thought that would be one of my kids first words, but he loves food. He will say please and thank you and understands what we are saying.
Then it was the glorious Ragnar experience for the 5th year in a row. Team Jen had two teams again this year and we had a lot of fun running to remember. Still not pleased with how the whole race is run by the organizers, but no time for complaints. My dad and Bayli had youth conference so we had to get some substitutes for them. Dennis filled in and he brought us a huge bag of peas and a chart with the estimated times we should be at each exchange- that is the engineer in him. Then Whitli's friend Rebecca came along, hopefully she still likes Whitli after the whole experience. Foster went to Grandma Janice's for the weekend for his first sleepover. She said he was fine:) So I guess we will have to do that more often.
We had a little rain the first legs we did, but just before I started to run there was a beautiful rainbow. Can't help but think someone was sending us a little message.
Brennen ran up Avon pass, which is a pure dirt road, except due to the rain it was straight mud. Some of the large vans without 4-wheel drive were getting stuck and had to go the long way around. Needless to say the suburban and Brennen were covered in mud. As if this leg wasn't hard enough, try doing it with 10 lbs of mud on your feet.
I had to show off for my audience on my second leg and in memory of Haley sprinted to the finish line. Brennen was embarrassed.
Mindy finally persuaded Greg to come along this year. He of course made it all a little more humorous
We started off the month of July with a Bang!!! Literally with fireworks. We were able to see so many, our neighbors even put on a show that gave the Lewiston fireworks a run for there money. Foster loved it, he loved the sparklers and the pop its once he figured them out.
We finally finished the railing that desperately needed to be done to protect anyone from falling of the ledge. I could not figure out what I wanted and then one day on pinterest I saw a railing made of re-bar. Brennen was extremely reluctant and finally I just had to go to Lowe's and buy the stuff and make him start. It was a rocky start getting the posts secure, but between the two of us we did it. Thanks to my ideas and Brennen's handy-work it turned out great.
So now when our next little one comes along it will be a little safer getting to the back door. Speaking of which we are having another one. We were able to have an ultrsaound the second week of July when I was 20 weeks along. Brennen was so nervous because I kept telling him I thought it was a girl because of how different I felt this time around. He has grown up with all boys so needless to say when the Doc told us it was a girl- he about passed out. I am not worried at all, he is so good with Presley and Hazel. I am most worried that this little girl is going to be way to spoiled. We are excited and a little nervous to be adding to our family but we are so grateful and will definitely take what we can get. No names yet, I finally bought a few girl things, but am not near as on top of things this time around. I guess it is okay if she has to wear boy clothes for the first little bit. I started to show a lot quicker this time around, but was able to keep it a secret til about week 16. In fact Brennen just said to me last night that I look as big as I did when I was 9 mths pregnant with Foster. Really? I was much bigger and after my response I do not think he will be making many more comments like that. I have not felt near as good this pregnancy but just count those bad days as blessings and a reassurance that the baby is still growing.
I wish I would have videoed Fosters response when I told him he was getting a baby sister. I had picked him up from grandma's and he was in the car seat in the back, I turned around at the light and said Foster you are going to be a big brother and have a little sister. He got the biggest grin on his face and just started to giggle for a couple minutes. He knew exactly what I said to him, it was a tender moment that I was so glad I was able to experience. As for how well he will do when she actually gets here is up in the air. He can be so sweet but is a little aggressive at times and is definitely attached to his parents. So we are going to spend the next few months trying to get ready for another one. She is due Nov 29. Secretly hoping for for another Thanksgiving baby.
We were suppose to go camping but my dad took the liberty of booking us a couple rooms at the Beaver Creek Lodge so we were in the mountains but had showers and toilets and a nice soft bed to sleep on. We went on a few rides, went to Bear Lake, and the girls and Tucker were able to go to Pickleville to see Beauty and the Beast. It was a good time.
Brandt got married on July 18. It was a nice day and now there are two Brittany Reese's in the family. Foster was recovering from a stomach bug so dealing with him was a nightmare, but as long as people just kept there distance and I was right there everything turned out just fine.
Then we packed up and got ready to leave for our annual Godderidge St George trip. This year marked 30 years of the tradition and while things have changed and we have lots more people, it is still a blast. We find ways to have fun with our big group. The heat doesn't seem to be so bad either when you are making memories. Foster loved to swim. He was a little fish. He did not love the 6 hr car ride but we survived. We had a nice FHE the first night we were there and Dennis and my Dad, told us some of there memories of there parents and why we have this tradition, then we played some games and just hung out. Had lots of Popsicle's, ice cream and food in general.
We tried out the new children's museum one afternoon and he loved it, he could mostly be found sitting in anything that had a steering wheel.
We spent two days at the lake and had a good time on the beach and in the boat. The kids all knee boarded and tubed and it was fun to see the excitement on there faces over the simplest things.
Brennen surfing, with blood running down his face. Ted threw him the rope and it cut him, he didn't even know it was bleeding by the time he was done surfing it had run all the way down his face. We all had a good laugh, cuz as you can see he was so concentrated on what he was doing that he didn't realize he was bleeding.
It was hard to come home, and thank goodness we left around the same time my dad did because he ran out of gas about 2 miles from Nephi so we had to buy a can and take it to him. I am sure he was harassed by the three women he had in his car:)
