First annual Run to Remember "Ridgnar"

I am just three months late getting this post up, but really not a surprise since this is pretty much the story of my life- always behind.

We have all had so much fun doing Ragnar the past few years as Team Jen. The race got a little too big and the crowds were crazy, plus all our busy schedules made it hard to get everything together. So this year we ran our own, we were all on the same team (Team JEN-KEN-JETT). We had no rules. The goal was to get as many of us to participate (age doesn’t matter) and to have every individual push themselves to remind ourselves we can do hard things. But most of all to remember and honor those angels we have in heaven who we were lucky enough to have influenced our lives. I want the tradition to keep going, it may not be Ragnar, but it was fun and it was challenging.

We started Friday August 14th at Mack Park in Smithfield Utah and Ran to The cabin up Logan canyon (mile marker 484). Then we had dinner, played, and just enjoyed each others company (after we finally found dennis and Lori). Some of us got some sleep, but there was a pretty wicked rain and lightning storm that was fun to watch Saturday we started again. Running from Franklin Basin to Bear Lake. Needless to say there was mountains to climb. This was the route we took.

Friday:
1-Mack Park to Smithfield campground: 5 miles- this is paved and can be broken up into shorter distances for the kids

4- Tony Grove to the Cabin: 10 miles- you go down past white pine lake, mostly downhill but once again if you start here you have to make it the whole way

Saturday:

5- Franklin Basin Road to Peterson Hollow Trail- 3 miles- dirt road that we can split up distance for kids again

6- Peterson to Beaver Mountain: 6 miles- up and down single track

7-Beaver Mountain to Gibson: 5 miles- up and down single track

8-Gibson to Beaver creek: 5 miles - 4-wheeler trail

9- Beaver Creek to Ranger Dip-7 4-wheeler trail

10- Ranger Dip to Bear Lake: 7.5 miles - mostly downhill 4-wheeler trail.

We even convinced Uncle Lynn to come up to hang out with us, while I know it was hard for him, I know it meant a lot to everyone to have him there. He even made some funny shirts to sport while he was there.

Day 2: We had a few more join us at the start gate. We had a great day, it was warm and the distances may have been a little underestimated (Bruce and Julie) but I was so proud of all the kids for running that first leg of three miles. Especially Harper, she would not quit- those little legs made it the whole way.

I love this picture- Foster was so excited about doing this and he was in pure  heaven, his face tells it all.

Thanks Greg!

Such a cute pic, it would have been even cuter had Foster not had a red Gatorade stache.

Zip line fun.

This was right before Kruz and Kade smacked into the tire and Kruz got a nice owie! I think he knew what was coming.

We also had a water fight, celebrated Dennis' 60th, and the kids had lots of fun playing together in between the runs. My family was of course awesome and I couldn't have asked for a better extended family. Thanks for supporting me in the first annual Run to Remember-Ridgnar.
